Easy Airbrush Makeup with Luminess Air

These days, there are many ways to apply makeup, specifically foundation. First, there are the types of foundation – powder, liquid, stick, tinted, and so many others.

Makeup enthusiasts now have more choices of applying a makeup foundation. Depending on the abovementioned types of foundation they will use, they may apply any of them through the following methods: sponges, brushes, their own fingers, or airbrush.

Many professional makeup artists swear by airbrushing as the best technique, as they claim that it gives the best, the most flawless, and the most natural-looking finish – no lumps, rough or uneven parts, or blotches. It’s like having a “second skin.” If you’ve never heard of airbrushing a foundation before and are curious by it, you’ve come to the right place!

Airbrushing is a different technique to applying your foundation. If you’re new to airbrushing, this article makes a good introduction to it. More people have switched to airbrushing due to the following benefits:

  • It’s easy to use in the face, neck, and other parts of the body.
  • It gives a delicate, smooth, and flawless finish.
  • It’s dermatologically tested, approved, and recommended.
  • It evens out skin tone and patchiness easily.
  • No unsightly foundation marks, as airbrushing allows for natural blending.
  • It’s easy to match your exact skin tone.
  • It doesn’t touch the face, unlike sponges, hands and fingers, and brushes, making it the most hygienic way to apply foundation.
  • It reduces the appearance of several common flaws, such as blemishes, acne marks, wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, etc. It can also conceal pigmentation, such as the one caused by diseases or any other condition (such as vitiligo).

If you want to try airbrushing for the first time but don’t know which brand to start, it’s best to look for the best-selling brands. Luminess Air is currently the number one best-selling airbrush in the world, and for a few good reasons.

  • It is designed to deliver flawless and long-lasting results.
  • It helps erase or minimize the appearance of ugly acne marks, discoloration, enlarged pores, black circles around the eyes, wrinkles, and fine lines, making you look a lot younger.
  • The stylus delivers an ultra-fine mist, giving an even and uniform coverage to your face.
  • The product is made up of a water-based formula that ensures a fresh, dewy, and radiant glow to your face.
  • It doesn’t give the unpleasantly blotched or “caked-up” look that you would find in its competitors.

You can begin with the Luminess Air Airbrush Starter Kit. It is a reasonably priced kit with just about everything you need to get your first airbrushing started. This kit consists of:

  • Foundation – for those who have oily, combination, or acne-prone skin, the best is the matte type. It gives your face a powdery, photo-ready finish, giving medium to full coverage without appearing thick or cakey. This foundation is oil-free mineral-based product that is also hypoallergenic. It stays long in the skin and retains its smooth finish even after many hours. It is available in different shades, from Number 1 (the lightest) to Number 4 (the darkest).
  • Primer and moisturizer (.25 oz) – the moisturizing action hydrates the skin to prevent it from becoming dry and parched, keeping it smooth, while the priming action re-texturizes the skin for a smooth, flawless finish.
  • Blush (.25 oz) – liquid airbrush pigment to give your skin a naturally soft and youthful-looking radiance.
  • Skin Brightening Glow – it restores luster to dull skin and is perfect as a highlighter on the brow, cheekbones, nose bridge for youthful-looking glow.

The Luminess Air Airbrush Starter Kit, as the name implies, is ideal for airbrush first-timers. It is pretty easy to use, but the application technique may take a little practice before getting it perfectly. Here’s how to use the Luminess Air Airbrush Starter Kit to achieve flawless results:

  1. Shake the foundation bottle for at least five to ten seconds before each use to combine the ingredients well. It ensures even and uniform coverage.
  2. Plug the Luminess Air stylus, turn the power on by pressing the on/off button. At this time, the air will start flowing out of the tip of the stylus. However, no foundation will be dispensed until the throttle (or “trigger”) is pulled back.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the stylus by getting a feel for the flow of air. Start practicing using the stylus by doing small, circular motions on your face, staying about six to eight inches away from it. Or, use a four-finger width distance between the stylus and your face. The right distance is key to getting an even tone. If you place the stylus a bit too close to the face, the darker and heavier makeup will appear. On the other hand, the further your stylus away from your face, the lighter your makeup will look. You never want to pull it back all the way, except for when cleaning your stylus. It’s important to be in control of where your makeup is going, so keep on practicing with your Luminess Air stylus until you get it right.
  4. Dispense the product into the stylus. The instruction says four to eight drops, but it depends on how much makeup you’d like to fill into the stylus. If you want less, start with only a few drops.
  5. Start applying the makeup to your face. Remember to keep the stylus level so that you won’t dump any makeup from the stylus cup. Hold it just like you would with a regular pen and keep your wrist loose while gently pulling back on the throttle. At this point, you feel the cool mist, which means that the foundation is coming out of the stylus, so keep your hand moving. Don’t forget to maintain a six-inch distance away from your face (or, again, use the four-finger width distance), and go around each area in small, circular motions.
  6. Tip: Start with an area where you would like to have the most coverage. For example, start at the middle of your face (where you want the most coverage) and then go around the rest of your face and neck. Start spraying a light layer, let it dry for a few seconds, and add more if necessary.
  7. Tip: It’s essential to have good lighting to see in the mirror how the makeup would look on your face, to see whether it is perfectly applied or needs additional touch-ups.
