Biopsy results

Sorry about the lack of blogging this month. I'm not off to a great start for the new year, but I blame it on the morning sickness, the flu, multiple doctor's appointments, and my overall lack of energy right now. I am, however, drinking coffee for the first time in awhile, so I think I'm finally over the morning sickness hump and should be feeling more like myself now.

OK, I talked about my ultrasound and biopsy in my last blog post- if you haven't read it yet, go check it out so you're up to speed. Dear lord, that biopsy was a lot more painful afterwards than I had anticipated. The whole left side of my breast is still green and blue (go Seahawks!) and a little sore a week later. I sent my friend a picture of the bruise when it was at it's worst and she was horrified! But I had an appointment with my OB-GYN on Tuesday and the results were in...it was negative! The lump is just a benign fibroid and nothing to worry about. They said they'd keep an eye on it and check it again after I have the baby and nurse for a few months and make sure it hasn't grown or moved at all, and we'll decide then if it needs to be removed or if it can just stay where it's at. They said a lot of times they just leave it because it's harmless, but you can choose to have it surgically removed. I probably won't, simply because I plan on breast feeding for at least a year, so surgery on one of my boobs probably isn't a great idea. We'll see though!

Thanks everyone for the concern, thoughts, prayers, messages, and everything else while this was going on. It was pretty stressful having to go through it and wait for the results, and I am so so thankful that the outcome was a good one. I'm healthy, the baby is healthy, and I even got to see him or her again on another ultrasound this week!
Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I think it looks like a girl :)

The profile totally looked like Lily's did when I had my ultrasound with her, and she's hoping for a baby sister. The baby is definitely looking more like a baby now, and not just a little gummy bear like on the last ultrasound. He/she is about the size of a lime! I'm about 12 1/2 weeks pregnant right now so it will be a few more weeks until we can find out the gender. My doctor said they usually do the next ultrasound between 18-20 weeks. I may explode from anticipation waiting for the next 6 weeks.

By the way, I got another ultrasound picture where the baby is facing straight on, and my son is convinced that I'm going to give birth to Bane from Batman. What do you think? I can see the resemblance, though I'm not really hoping for a super-villian baby. That's what you get when you ask a 9 year old boy what he thinks about your ultrasound pictures though!

Also, if you  don't already follow me on Facebook and Twitter, you should. I post more daily updates, random thoughts and musings, and try to interact with people on there as much as I can. It's a great way to keep up to date even when I'm not blogging as much. Let's be friends.
