Feel Good Wednesday

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

I need a time out guys.

It's been a crazy week and I need to relax and recharge. I've been packing nonstop for the last few days trying to get us all moved before school starts up for the kids. I've been super stressed out, and in desperate need of a few "feel good moments."

Thankfully, Arrowhead® Brand Sparkling Mountain Spring Water has my back. Today, and every Hump Day (Wednesday!) they are sharing some of their favorite ways to feel good and escape the craziness of the week. You can hop over there too and share your own Feel Good Wednesday moments too!

So, here are a few of my favorite #FeelGoodMoments:

Read a good book.
Give yourself manicure.
Get some fresh air.
 Go shopping.
Take a nap.
Eat good food.
 Do yoga.

And for me, my biggest thing right now is staying hydrated. I have a tendency to not drink enough water. I just don't like the taste of it. I prefer soda, even though I know it's so bad for me. But now I have a new favorite- Arrowhead® Brand Sparkling Mountain Spring Water. This stuff is deliciously refreshing and gives me the carbonated bubbles that I crave. It comes in 5 yummy flavors, like lemon, lime, mandarin orange, raspberry-lime, and black cherry. Plus, Arrowhead® Brand Sparkling Natural/Mountain Spring Water is comprised of just three natural ingredients—spring water, natural fruit essence, and bubbles! And, with no sugar or calories, Arrowhead® Brand Sparkling Natural/Mountain Spring Water is a good alternative to soda. It's a great way for me to stay hydrated without having to really think about it. Plus, it's delicious!

Head over to the Arrowhead® Brand Facebook page every #HumpDay to share your feel good moment and share your own!

What's your favorite way to get through the midweek hump?

Lacking motivation

Tuesday, August 27, 2013

Do you ever have these kind of days? I feel like I'm having that kind of week. I have a to-do list three miles long and a house to pack up. So you'd think I'd be busying myself with the errands I should be running and the boxes I should be filling, but instead I'm doing this.

Sitting at my computer, eating an entire sleeve of Nutter Butters, drinking milk out of a Christmas mug (because that's the only thing I can find), and watching clips of The Real Housewives of Orange County's reunion show. Why? Who knows. I don't get Bravo anymore so I don't follow the show. But I'm easily distracted and it looked dramatic. I also have 2 nails missing gel polish and I can't stop staring at them. I'm fighting the urge to sit down and redo my nails right now, because I know that would be silly to waste and hour and a half on nails that are just going to get messed up again from all the packing I should be doing.

It's just that packing is so boring.
I tried getting the kids to help me, but they weren't interested.
Lily preferred to lay on her bed and watch me.

Though she was a great little helper when it came to pulling nails.

I guess I have gotten a little bit done, but not as much as I should.
Someone tell me to get off my lazy butt and get moving!

Hopefully I'll find some motivation somewhere...

Big changes coming our way

Saturday, August 24, 2013

Hey guys, it's been a crazy week on this end.
Funny, because I was planning on an easy week of reading for Bout of Books.
Instead, my husband lost his job, and that put an end to my relaxing week.

I've been on a crazy emotional roller coaster since then. I was panicked, because we're going into the slower time of year as it is, and now he has to find a new job. The problem wasn't going to be finding a place that wanted him- he's really good at what he does. But finding a place that has the room for another tattooer and has the clientele to support another guy in the shop this time of year? That's another story. This is not the time to be looking for a new job in his industry.

I spent the first day and a half with my anxiety in overdrive, and I thought I would wear a path in the floors here from the amount of pacing I did. My stomach was in knots and I couldn't eat or sleep. I knew things would work out, but I felt like I was in a time crunch because the kids are starting school very soon. Were we staying here? Were we going to have to relocate? We did a lot of debating back and forth and weighed all of our options- we had a lot of them and it was really hard trying to decide which option was the best for our family.

My superheros- when I'm stressed I just look at these two and smile.
The second night of his job search we decided to drown our sorrows and unwind a little bit. We never drink- like hardly ever. I hate the taste of alcohol, but I can drink champagne. I had an old bottle in the back of my pantry that I stuck it in the freezer, and had myself some champagne that night. Since I hadn't eaten much from the stress and with my alcohol tolerance being a big ZERO, it only took about 2 or 3 sips for me to start feeling better about life. We stayed up late talking, laughing, me crying, and together we spent a good portion of the night feeling sorry for ourselves.

In the middle of this, he got a lead- someone reached out to him online and told Shayne to give him a call the next day. My stress instantly melted away. Why would someone say that unless they wanted to discuss a job opportunity? I definitely slept more comfortably that night, and it wasn't just from the amount of champagne I consumed (half a bottle- that's a record for me)!

The next day they talked on the phone, and about 30 minutes into the conversation I got a thumbs up from Shayne. He got a job!

The only thing about it is...
It means moving.
And soon!

The kids start school in less than 2 weeks, and I don't want them to have to start school here for a few weeks and then transfer somewhere else. Especially Lily, since she's going into kindergarten. That just wouldn't make sense, and it would be really hard on the kids. So instead, Shayne will finish up things here and I will go over to the new place with the kids on Labor Day weekend. Yep, next weekend! School starts September 3rd, so I need to get over there before then. I have a lot of packing to do in the next week! Whatever I don't get done can be finished by Shayne, but I need to get moving and get my butt off the computer.

So if things are a little crazy or lacking around here for the next week or two, I apologize. Bear with me and I'll have some cool stuff coming up for you after I get all settled, I promise.

One of those things may or may not be a Gelish MINI nail giveaway! *hint hint*
{have you seen my DIY Gel Nail tutorials?}
You'll just have to check back and see when that happens :)

Thanks to all of the sweet comments & tweets of encouragement this week while I was super stressed- I really appreciate everyone's kind words!

Have a great rest of your weekend.

Things I Don't Love

Thursday, August 22, 2013

This weeks edition of Things I Don't Love should actually be retitled
"Things I Absolutely Freaking Loathe."
Yep, special edition!

Here's how it works:
Write up your own Things I {don't} Love post and link it up here. You can write about anything and everything. It can be about one thing or ten things, and you can choose to include pictures or whatever you'd like. It's completely up to you! Just tell me what you're not loving right now. Please make sure to grab a button or link back to my blog in some way, then hop around the link ups and check out some other blogs. Linky parties are a great way to meet new people and find some fun new blogs to follow, so have fun and be social. I always read and try to comment on every single link up!
Fair-weather friends. People who act like they are your friends when they need something from you or you serve some kind of purpose for them. But they don't hesitate to stab you in the back, kick you when you're down, or scatter when you need help or ask something of them.

Alcohol. I can't stand the taste of alcohol. But sometimes I wish I did because unwinding with a glass of wine or having a nice stiff drink at the end of a long, horrible day sounds great. But then I remember that I'm a weenie, and I just can't handle it. I just want the effects of the alcohol without having to consume it! Here's why-

My husband losing his job. Yep. That's been my last 2 days. I haven't eaten, I've barely slept, I've cried my eyes out and called my mommy a lot. I don't know what our plan is yet but I'm glad we have a network of support- even if they are 300+ miles away. The thing I hate about my husband's job has always been the lack of security, and here we are now, 13 days before school starts and we have to think about possibly moving now because we can't afford to stay here on any other job's pay. Life- you really piss me off sometimes. And to think, I finally had a really good plan too! Guess it's starting over time...

Enough feeling sorry for myself.

I wanna hear about you!

What's bugging you? Was your week as shitty as mine was? Misery loves company.
Let's see if you can beat me.
Oh, and I need to get rid of my Silhouette Cameo. Yep, sad day.

Now it's your turn

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

It's officially time for Bout of Books 8.0!

This is where I'll be posting my daily updates so I can keep track of my progress and check in on my goals. Again, this is my third time doing BOB, so I'm hoping this will be the best one yet!

It's 1280 pages on my Nook & I'm about 60% done- hoping to finish tomorrow. I missed the first Twitter chat (we were at the library- go figure) but I did participate in two challenges! I've never done a challenge before so I can cross that off my goal list :) I also commented on a few blogs, so I'm being social. Pretty good first day if I do say so myself.

Weekend Wrap Up

Monday, August 19, 2013

It's Monday again, which means it's time for my Weekend Wrap Up!
Let's take a look at what went on this week- on & off the blog.

1. I started reading Under The Dome by Stephen King. My 1st King novel!
2. Lillers showing off her band-aid from her shots :(
3. Doesn't she have the best nails for a 5 year old? They are so beautiful and healthy.
4. I caught the neighbor cat spying on me- but he got scared when he noticed me.
5. I packaged up some healthy, easy to grab snacks for the kids- fruits & veggies!
6. We found this cute bucket of kitties pumpkin craft.
7. The countdown has begun! The snowman thing is a countdown to Christmas (the kids' idea)
8. This one is going to be hard to wake up when school starts. She slept til 10:30!
9. We got our LUVs in the mail! Love them.

On the blog, I posted my Diamond Candles review & giveaway.
There's still time to enter!
I hosted another week of Things I Don't Love, where I talked a little more about Lily's kindergarten shots and showed you this creepy spiderweb thing I'm not loving in my front yard.

And I talked about my Bout of Books goals!

This week was pretty lame-o, in real life & blog-wise. Sorry about that. Summer is killing me. Seriously...the countdown on the fridge is keeping me going right now. I'm ready for normal bedtimes and some routine & schedules! It's kind of been a free for all around here lately my children's attitudes are starting to show it.
Don't fret- I've got some good stuff coming up soon!

Hope you had a great weekend.

Things I Don't Love

Thursday, August 15, 2013

Did Thursday catch up on you like it did me?
Yeah, this week is just flying right by. Time for Things I Don't Love Thursday!

Taking my babies to get shots. I know, I know, it's for their own good. But it gives me such anxiety, and they obviously don't enjoy it either. It's so much harder when they are big and they understand what's going on. This girl just had to get 3 shots so she can start Kindergarten & it was no fun. Thankfully Daddy was there and that helped a ton.

Creepy spidery looking nest things in my tree. I noticed when I got home from vacation that a tree in my yard had a pretty gnarly looking web on it. Upon further inspection I realized that it wasn't a spider nest at all, but rather a bunch of Tent Caterpillars! They make this web or "tent" thing and then they consume everything inside of it. I need to get rid of this guys like ASAP before they take over and kill the whole tree. Too bad I don't want to get close to it at all because it gives me the creeps. You can see the caterpillars all wriggling around in there!

Diamond Candles- Review & GIVEAWAY!

Tuesday, August 13, 2013

I'm really excited for this review & giveaway from Diamond Candles today.

If you've never heard of them before here's a little about them from their website:
We are so glad you are here! If you don't know much about us yet we have real rings worth $10, $100, $1,000, or $5,000 in every single earth friendly, all natural soy candle that we make.
The combination of highly fragrant premium quality soy candles, an exciting and fun 'ring reveal' experience (what ring will you find?), and a ring to wear for months and years to come means making something as boring as burning candles in your home something to look forward to.
Once you burn your candle down and find your ring, head over to facebook and upload a photo or video of you and your ring for everyone else to see! You can watch some 'ring reveal' videos, or go ahead and take the plunge and get your first soy candle!
I had heard of these before but never tried them out myself until just last week.

I ordered the Cupcake scented one, after taking forever to decide between that one, Vanilla Lime, Gingerbread Latte, and Chocolate Truffle. (Which apparently unbeknownst to me, my BFF Janie ordered the same scent at the same time too. It's now sold out- told ya it was good!) They all sounded yummy though though.

I was super excited when it arrived in the mail in about a week, and I couldn't wait to light it right up so I could find my ring. But first I had to get over how big the thing was. These candles are huge, and very heavy. See? Don't drop it on your foot or you might break a toe. Not that I almost did that or anything...

I popped the lid off and took a big smelled heavenly! Just like a sweet, sugary, frosted cupcake. I lit the candle and opened up a good book (perfect on this rainy, summer day) and waited for my ring to reveal itself.

By the end of the day, I had my ring.

It didn't have any special markings on it, so I figured it's just a $10 piece of costume jewelry, but I don't really mind. It was fun waiting to find out what was inside, and it's still a pretty ring. A real diamond would have been nice, but at least I have a cute new accessory to wear and a really delicious smelling, huge candle to burn for a while to come.

Now you have a chance to win your very own Diamond Candle with a ring valued at $10, $100, $1,000, or $5,000 inside! You can check out their Facebook page and their Pinterest boards for some of the more expensive rings customers have found inside their Diamond Candles. I can't wait to get another one and try for another ring. I can see how this might be addicting.

These would make such a great gift idea for people who love candles!
Good luck on the giveaway.

Disclaimer: I was given a free candle from Diamond Candles for the purpose of this review and giveaway. All opinions are, as always, my own :)
