Have I mentioned that I love this man?
My husband, the father of my children, the love of my life...yeah, you know the drill.
He's pretty sweet. And funny. And hot.
Sometimes he surprises me. Not often, but sometimes.
Last week he surprised the hell out of me.
He came home in the middle of the day and caught me off guard by saying "OK, I want you to close your eyes and don't peek- I have a surprise for you but I have to go get it out of my truck."
I turned around and saw this:
Silhouette Cameo! I could not believe my eyes.
I was completely blown away by this. As I mentioned before, he doesn't surprise me a lot. I'm a huge control freak and like picking things out myself, so the idea of him buying it without checking with me first makes me squirm now. Only because it would be like if I were trying to pick out a new guitar or tattoo machine for him. I wouldn't know which one he wanted or which one to get. There are a lot of other versions of the Silhouette out there that I had researched and knew I didn't want, so the fact that he knew exactly which model I wanted and pulled off a successful surprise really shocked and amazed me. I think I hugged and kissed him about a thousand times and kept saying "I can't believe you got the right one!" He even told the ladies at the store all about my blog and and how much I'd been wanting a Silhouette and they were all impressed that he was surprising me with it. Points for the husband with the ladies at the crafting store! I seriously love him.
I quickly went to work cleaning my "office" and made room for my new toy.
One thing I didn't think about was the learning curve involved with figuring out how to use this fancy contraption. It comes with it's own software and everything, and there are so many options for fun stuff to make that I'm a little overwhelmed. I don't know where to start! I haven't even really made anything with it yet because I'm not even sure how to do everything yet, and I need to buy more materials for some of the projects I have in mind. I need to just play around and practice for a bit before I take the plunge and start cutting vinyl. That stuff can be expensive and I'm so afraid of ruining a big project. For now I'm sticking with cutting paper for practice while I learn all of the little trick and tips for using my Silhouette.
Lily will love these!
I started a whole Silhouette board on Pinterest to give me some ideas...not that I need more ideas. I have plenty of those. Maybe soon I'll take the plunge and actually create something. For now I'm having fun just sitting and staring at it though because it's just so pretty!
Hopefully soon you'll see lots of fun crafty ideas and projects brought to you by new toy! Just as soon as I figure out how to use it...
