Is doing something nice for someone else on your list of New Year's resolutions? Because it should be!
I think with everything going on in the world right now we could all use a little of the "pay it forward" mentality. Be nice to others! Help someone in need. Lend a hand. Do something nice for another human being without expecting anything in return. It could be as a friendly smile to the person you pass every day on your way to work, buying coffee for a friend, donating a coat for a child, opening a door for a stranger, etc. Whether your random act is something seemingly small or big, you never know the impact it could have on someone else. Your random act could make a difference to someone!
So when my bloggy BFF Amber from My Three Bittles mentioned that she was starting a linky party for 2013 called 52 Weeks, I was totally on board!
So this week I was on the lookout for a "random act." And I found one!
Tonight on our dinner date I noticed a really sweet little waitress who seemed to be super busy. She looked like she was on top of everything and was helping out everyone...running orders that weren't hers, grabbing to-go boxes for other tables, helping get drink orders, etc. She was awesome. Well, halfway through dinner things got a little crazy. She was carrying a huge tray of drinks and a large bottle of Guinness teetered off of her tray in slow motion. It then crashed to the floor and broke right next to my chair. Beer and broken glass went everywhere (and splattered all over my boots). Of course a few people loudly yelled "Uh oh!" or something to that effect, but the gal kept smiling and laughed it off despite her embarrassment. She cleaned it up, apologized a million times, and went back to work. Right before we were leaving she came over and apologized again and I assured her it was OK.
As we were leaving I left this on the table:
I hope it made her night!
