My next big project! And important updates

What a crazy week!
Summer has officially begun in the Swenson household, despite the fact that it's still 60 some degrees & rainy out. We've been trying to keep busy to avoid the boredom of being stuck inside with all of this crappy weather here. I know some of you are experiencing record high temperatures all over the country and I feel for you...I do! We are all sending prayers your way and hoping for some relief for you. But could you please send just a little sunshine over to the Seattle area? Pretty please? We only get to see it about once a week and it makes me sad.

So, about this crazy week. First of all, my recent posts about my amazing new DIY skincare stuff and the DIY acne scar fading mask are a big hit. My blog's been going crazy with people from Pinterest and whatnot. Pin away people! And don't forget to follow me on Pinterest. I want as many people as possible to know how to get clear skin because I know what a huge impact its had on me. I really do love hearing the stories of how it's worked for you, my readers. So please, leave me comments...I read them all & I try to respond to them. If you have questions regarding the skincare stuff please feel free to ask and I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner. Also, if you have before and after pictures that you'd like to share or just a story of how it's worked for you, I'd love to feature you in my blog when I do some skincare updates. No rush on this...I'm not going to be putting anything together for a few weeks (to give more people time to try it out). I'll be posting later on when I need some people to feature, so keep an eye out for that.

Do you wanna see a little sneak peek of my super new awesome crafty project I'm working on? I'm really excited because it's a quilt for myself. Can you believe I don't own a quilt of my own?! Nope. The ones I've made have all been given away as gifts or sold. So I finally decided to make myself a really cute one to use as a throw for my living room couch.
Now, I know, this layout isn't perfect. I just laid out some of the blocks I already finished to show you the chevron pattern. I'm pumped on this because it's a really easy layout to follow that doesn't involve any triangles. I'm sorry, but do you know how annoying it is to cut and sew all those triangles in quilt patters? This one is just squares, so anyone can do it! I'm serious. If you have a sewing machine and can sew a somewhat straight line, you too can make a chevron print quilt like this. I'll show you how if you want to follow along!
This isn't the exact placement of the colors or anything...just a general idea. What do you think? I'm excited to cozy up with this on my couch already. I guess I need to get to sewing!

Yesterday I had planned on working on my new project all day. I woke up at about 6am, did my normal blogging/internet stuff while I drank my coffee, made breakfast & got the kids up and ready to go to church. I even flat ironed my hair & paid extra attention to my makeup because I was in such a great mood (looking forward to going to JoAnns and then sew all day). So we were headed out the door to go to church first when I had to rush back to my room to grab my jacket. In July. Boo. Well I ran right into the door jam and whacked my hand on the edge of it. I thought I had broken my middle finger, because I swear, I saw stars! My hand was throbbing yet also felt like it was going numb at the same time. I could instantly feel my fingertips starting to swell & it was starting to hurt really bad. Thinking I have at least a broken finger, I tell the kids that church is canceled and to go put a movie on while mommy ices her hand with a bag of frozen peas.

2 hours later and my hand is still hurting pretty bad. I realized nothing was broken, but I had 3 very bruised fingers. They turned an awesome shade of purple that kind of resembled marker after you've smeared the edge of your hand all over the page you colored.
See? Ouch.
24 hours later they are still slightly swollen and purple, but thankfully they don't hurt as much so I can type again. Hooray. They are still a little tender but I can manage to actually use my right hand today. Sadly, I didn't get any sewing done yesterday, but it was kind of nice because I ended up just having a lazy day.

I'm having some guest bloggers post soon, so if you are interested in being a guest blogger email me. M.Swenson@hotmail.com. That's M(dot)Swenson(at)hotmail(dot)com.

And one last thing! I'm getting awfully close to 75 followers. Do you remember what that means? Yep, a giveaway! Make sure you are a follower of my blog to get in on all of the giveaway fun. Also...I may or may not have a few other super awesome blog ladies wanting to join in on my giveaway. So there could be some pretty sweet prizes up for grabs! Make sure you follow me to get the scoop!

So my mission this week is to get my quilt top finished up. What do you think of the colors I chose? Are you so over the chevron stuff or are you like me and still think it's totally cute? I'm looking forward to adding it to my living room decor. Do you think you could attempt a chevron quilt? You should!

  4. I love the chevron quilt! I am addicted to chevron and I wish I could quilt. I desperately want to learn.
Your poor hand! That looks awful. I am horrible with my hands. I treat them so bad. I almost always burn myself cooking and I too run into door frames with them. Oh, and door knobs. haha.
