Water For Elephants

I decided that since the trailer for Water For Elephants looked so good that maybe I should read the book first. It is, after all, a New York Times bestseller and it's Barnes and Noble's #1 most popular Ebook according to my Nook. So I ordered it. I read it in 24 hours. I have a tendency to get a bit obsessive when I read a book, and I'm not the type to sit and read a chapter or two every day for a month. I don't dilly-dally! I read it in chunks, or sometimes one giant chunk! I started Water For Elephants on Friday night, read about half of it, and then I read for a bit on Saturday afternoon, and finished the last few chapters last night. I loved it! I think it was well written and it's a cute little love story (plus, since I know Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon play the main characters it was much easier to visualize in my head). And who doesn't like to visualize Robert Pattinson in their heads?

Helloooo...swoon.

Oh, wait, right. Water For Elephants :)

Don't worry...I'm not going to spoil the book for you because I hate when people do that to me! I loved the book from start to finish and it wasn't full of a bunch of junk in the middle like some books are. It never really got off course or confused me (I've had some books do that, where I'll be like "Whaaaat? Wait a second..." and I have to go back and re-read a few pages). After I read it I re-watched the trailer online and it got me excited for the movie because I would see little scenes here and there and I love seeing if they appear in the movie like they do in the book and my mind. Anyways, I think I definitely need to go see this when it comes out! Now if only I had someone to go see it with!

Today I decided to do some sewing. One problem...my office/craft room was a disaster! I'm not just talking a little messy. I mean like so bad that I can't stand to walk in there for 5 seconds because I'll hyperventilate. We haven't been using it at all since we got our laptops (no need for the big bulky desktop in there!) and I haven't been doing much of anything lately, let alone sewing or crafting. So that room basically became the room where everyone would throw their crap when they didn't know what to do with it. Big empty boxes from shopping, toys that are supposed to be donated to Goodwill, piles of books, tattoo drawing stuff/tracing paper/stencils stacked on every surface, guitar picks (and 4 guitars! I swear my husband is a hoarder!), and even boxes full of Christmas decorations that haven't made their way back to the shed yet. Basically it needed to be de-cluttered and organized, which is right up my alley. It took be over an hour to do it all, and I broke some rules again and carried some boxes out to the storage shed. Hey...don't blame me! I left 2 big boxes in there that were too heavy for me to carry for Shayne, and needless to say they are still sitting there, so I did what I had to do. After everything was nice and clean and sparkling I decided to sit down and work on a baby quilt. I got my laptop all set up and found something good on Netflix to watch, sat down, sewed one straight line, got up to see what the kids were fighting about, sat back down to sew another line and then I quit. Oh well, maybe tomorrow! The cleaning really took it out of me. But at least it's done because there were a few times where I had the urge to do some crafty stuff but I dreaded going in there and seeing the mess.

Well we had quite the dramatic day today, cleaning aside. My husband quit his job at the shop he was at today and moved all of his stuff back into the shop he was at when we first moved here last year. Apparently it's the talk of the town and some feelings got hurt, but I guess that's what happens when you leave an employer. Especially if you're really good at what you do. Sorry, but we have to do what's best for us...financially, personally, and professionally. There's no rule saying you can't move on when a better opportunity comes along, right? Nothing personal. Anyways, we're happy! Looking forward to the future.

On to my 30 days of truth...please let these be over!!! I don't want to be a quitter

Day 22 → Something you wish you hadn’t done in your life. I can think of a few things, but honestly I don't think I'd change much. I have no idea if changing one little thing here or there would completely alter my entire life. I'm not 100% crazy about every single thing I've done, but I'm happy where I'm at and everything in my past has gotten me to where I'm at today.

Day 23 → Something you wish you had done in your life. Well my life's not over yet, so I'm hoping to do some awesome traveling sometime in the future!

Day 24 → Make a playlist to someone, and explain why you chose all the songs. Really? Do I have to? I'm going to cheat a little here and just think of a few that make me think of a funny or good memory. Breann- Justin Timberlake, Rock Your Body...remember Godfather's Pizza? hahahaha. I never laughed so hard. Annie- Michelle Branch, Destiny's Child, Happy Hardcore (haha!), remember listening to that while I drove us (crying) over Snoqualmie Pass in a horribly scary blizzard at night trying to get to Seattle when we were 17? Fun. Responsible. Excuse me while I lock up my daughter now!

Oh yeah, tomorrow is my 5 year wedding anniversary!!!

Yaaaaaaay us :)

  1. I had a lot of trouble with the first half of the book. I think it's going to be a situation where the movie is better than the book. :)

They are showing more trailers now and I'm so excited! I love Robert and Reese...and the guy that plays August is a PERFECT choice!!

    Happy early anni!!

  3. I just got done reading this yesterday, and I liked it too. I, unlike you, read it in bits over the past two weeks but I still really enjoyed it. I am excited to see where the film crew takes it!

  4. I LOVE your blog! I found you from your link in the Epic Giveaway @ VR:)

I read this book in about a day. Mostly because I was stuck in the airport...boo. But it was SO great. I would totally go see the movie with you BUT I live in Colorado:)

I love your little tattooed fam. My hubs and I live in a little mountain town (mostly republican;) and there is an AMAZING tattoo artist here...thus, most everyone here is tattooed. Including us:) You could say that it's an oasis of ink.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you know I'm a follower as of one second after I hit post.
